Zemba Luzamba
Gambler Hat Boys(Contemporary Figurative)
Description
A vibrant painting featuring three stylishly dressed Black men wearing hats and sunglasses, rendered in a colorful, expressive style against a muted green background.
"Zemba Luzamba was born in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He studied Fine Art in Lusaka, Zambia at the Evelyn Hone College of Applied Art, where he graduated in 1994. He moved to South Africa in 1999 and today he lives in Cape Town. His work shows a positive post-colonial Africa in which he creates scenes of formally dressed African people taking part in traditionally Western leisure activities like playing tennis, eating in a restaurant, or dancing. He says this frees his mind from the hardships of reality. Zemba’s artworks have been exhibited in solo and group shows, both in South Africa and abroad, and have been included in several corporate and private collections in South Africa, Italy, America, and the UK.
